What it is
Trincomalee Whale Watching — the full experience
Whale watching from Trincomalee provides access to the same blue whale and sperm whale populations that pass close to Sri Lanka's coast, but from the east coast during the season when the south coast becomes inaccessible due to the southwest monsoon. Licensed boats depart from Trincomalee Harbour and Uppuveli Beach into the deep waters of the Bay of Bengal, where blue whales (up to 30 metres), sperm whales, fin whales, and large pods of spinner and bottlenose dolphins are encountered on a high percentage of trips from March to August.
The east coast whale watching experience is typically more intimate than Mirissa's, with fewer boats competing for whale sightings.
Shorta Tours arranges Trincomalee Whale Watching as part of a tailored private itinerary, providing expert guides, comfortable private transfers, and hand-picked operators to ensure a seamless and truly memorable experience.
