What it is
Bambarakanda Falls Visit — the full experience
Bambarakanda Falls is the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka, plunging 263 metres in an unbroken single column of white water from the edge of a highland plateau down through dense pine and cloud forest to a stream-filled gorge below. The falls are reached by a short walk of approximately 30 minutes from the Bambarakanda Estate road, through a plantation of exotic pine and blue gum trees planted by the Forest Department in the 1970s, emerging at a viewpoint from which the full extent of the drop is visible.
On clear days the falls are visible from kilometres away, appearing as a slender silver thread on the dark face of the escarpment.
